Today's #hcsmca tweetchat was titled "The Social Media Tools You Use - How and Why?" I thought this was an interesting topic so I've curated the tweets from this chat. Note that the hosts of this tweet chat maintain a historical record of their chats using a Google document.

etreatmd	T1  For eTreatMD I use Twitter, Facebook & LinkedIn - each has a slightly different focus, tone & kind of engagement.
anetto	T1 Pinterest for '40s book covers and OT items, Blogspot for blogging, Twitter all the time, Facebook because it's there. tchatio
thebellavita	A1 Use twitter & linkedin for industry news, updates, research. Use other outlets to reach & engage w/ potential and past clients
cascadia	T1 - twitter for mass communication, linked in for professional engagement but in person events like #medx are critical

quintepediatric	T1: Use - twitter, FB, Instagram, Pinterest, web/blog (still social, right?). Have also Google+, snapchat, Foursquare, tumblr
etreatmd	T1(b)  I also manage the channels with Hootsuite & use a variety of content sources. Twitter has the best conversations so far.
cmaer	T1 Have just started (really just started) to explore using Periscope
etreatmd	T1(c) I think LinkedIn has potential for good discussions. Not sure about G+ for health issues?

cmaer	T2 Google+ has proven a dud for me. Maybe just too many platforms to work on
cascadia	T2 I have stopped using social media behind “private walls” that use my content to sell ads
cmaer	T2 Have also almost abandoned the ballpoint pen. My writing is proving too illegible these days.
anetto	T2 Have dropped or not really tried many tools. The sad remains are the regular emails to get me to come back
cascadiachat	T2 1st step should be a communication plan, identify your audience, figure out where they are, go there
colleen_young	@anetto T2 Good point. Has social media reduced anyone email numbers?  Not mine.
etreatmd	T2  Personally I pretty much gave up on G+. But I love hangouts. Very powerful combination = Hangout + Tweet Chat

hcsmca	T2b: Do you delete your account from social media tools you abandon?
cmaer	T2(b) Often don't get around to deleting account. Just keep getting those sad followup emails referenced earlier

atayraco	T2 I manage to get as far as unsubscribing from their email updates but don't get around to cancelling any accounts #probablyshould
anetto	T2b Sometimes go back to abandoned sites and don't know the password
kwotanowicz	A2b. Yes. Account and all content is deleted
quintepediatric	T2c: Not blocked, but self-monitoring remains one of the most critical tasks.
trishpaton	A2c Not blocked here but have worked in places where they are. Terribly annoying/ cause delays.
cmaer	T2(c) Is anybody's organization still blocking SM accounts for anything other than pure IT security concerns?
hcsmca	T3: Are you typically an early adopter or do you wait and see?
hivedan	T3 I'm totally a wait and see guy. Adding one more thing to my day is always stressful. @hcsmca
cmaer	T3 Early adopter if professionally required and if I feel an affinity. Otherwise like to see how its going to play out first.
anetto	A3. It depends on who is asking. Not early adopter to Twitter friends. A rocket compared to non Social Media people
jillianailsa	@hcsmca T3 - I wouldn't call it wait and see - so much as prioritizing what we know works. Esp. in environments w/ limited resources.
colleen_young	@HiveDan T3:I too wait and see. A new platform is only as good as the people who adopt it, but that needs early adopters too.

etreatmd	T3  I don't adopt early, but rather check out early. I experiment for practice use. If I see potential I play with it a bit & decide

cattoyoriginal	T4 I used to be more text. Now i'm more appreciative of mix of graphics & text. But still prefer more text than empty white space
anetto	T4 Text, but graphics are more compelling. Every blog post has pictures at least
hivedan	A4 Such a good person. I love graphics but text is simpler. @hcsmca
cmaer	T4 Speaking of which, anyone have experience with Graphic-heavy email newsletters vs. Headlines + text versions?
jillianailsa	@hcsmca T4 - How often do we get a choice when graphics are king? I find myself paying attn to the ever changing FB algorithm.
etreatmd	T4  Text & Image together can communicate effectively -the image often ads a personal emotive aspect that's attractive. Risk = detail
anetto	T4 I like that @hiveDan name - It's a graphic piece of text
etreatmd	T4 (b) I think it's important when using images in a serious context that they add value - not just function as click bait.
hivedan	Great answers to T4 shows how flexible graphic/text need to be to meet the application. #hcsma
duckdeux	T4 that said, all text better than poor graphics/photos!
trishpaton	T4 I really like text, find infographics very helpful. But hard to do well. Also looking for good platforms to assist in building

cmaer	T5 Using Twitter continuously except when sleeping. (almost kidding)
cmaer	T5 Although if I can shut myself out of my hotel room in the Philippines while asleep I can probably tweet as well.
anetto	T5 Really enjoy looking at new people's tweets, finding new links and topics, seeing if they resonate with anyone
